A QUICK WAY TO GENERATE BUY-IN AND CONNECT WITH ANY AUDIENCE
THE INDIVIDUAL VS. COLLECTIVE DYNAMIC WHEN PRESENTING
One way that I find helps me to connect quickly with an audience I’m presenting to, is to do my best to make them feel like they’re the only one in the room with me. At a conference or keynote, how many times have you heard the words “Ladies and Gentlemen?” It’s like an episode of Downton Abbey which couldn’t be further from reality!
I will continue to stress, over and over again, that small gear shifts can make a big difference. You don’t have a lot of time to connect with an audience and generate buy-in. The average attention span of humans is 8.25 seconds. That’s all you have to work with. So choose your words wisely and focus on the individual rather than the collective.
In this short clip, I give you a few easy and concrete examples to shift the language in your presentation style for maximum impact and genuine connection.
